The Navigators

The Navigators are born with white eyes that see beyond the physical realm eyes that perceive the invisible pathways connecting all corners of AARDE. Upon their heads are intricate designs, sacred patterns that were once used as escape routes for those held in bondage. These patterns are not mere decoration; they are living maps, encoding the routes to freedom that saved countless souls. Upon their backs, the Navigators bear white tattoos that illuminate when they activate the Nabtahenge Gates ancient portals scattered throughout AARDE that allow instant travel between distant locations. When a Navigator's tattoos ignite with radiant light, the gates respond, opening pathways through space itself. It is said that during the darkest times of enslavement, Navigators would risk everything to guide the oppressed through these gates, spiriting them to safety across impossible distances in the blink of an eye. The Nabtahenge Gates are architectural marvels of unknown origin, massive stone structures adorned with symbols that only Navigators can read. Without a Navigator's guidance, the gates remain dormant beautiful but inert monuments. But when a Navigator approaches, their tattoos blazing white, the gates awaken. The symbols begin to glow, and a passage opens to any destination the Navigator holds in their mind. To become a Navigator is to inherit both a sacred gift and a solemn responsibility. Young Navigators undergo the Marking a ritual where the designs are etched upon their heads and the tattoos inscribed upon their backs. These markings are connected to their very souls, responding to their emotions and intentions. A Navigator cannot hide their purpose; their markings reveal their truth. Today, Navigators serve SAHAEL as the masters of transportation. They operate the gate network that connects the realm's cities, guide armies to distant battlefields in moments, and ensure that trade flows freely across AARDE. But they never forget their origins. Every Navigator knows the stories of those who used these gifts to break chains and deliver the enslaved to freedom. That legacy of liberation defines who they are.
